Call for Application: Women Entrepreneurship for Promoting Peace and Social Cohesion

Centre for Peace and Justice, Brac University is pleased to invite applications from interested female students to participate in an online training programme on “Women Entrepreneurship for Promoting Peace and Social Cohesion” under the ‘Peacebuilding in Pandemic: Empowering Women to Promote Peace and Social Cohesion in the Context of COVID-19’ Project funded by UN Women.

About the Training:

The online training aims to empower young female students to design innovative start-ups and advocacy campaigns that addresses social issues, such as promoting peace, gender equity or equality, social cohesion, and COVID-19 resilience. The training will allow participants to undertake various innovative initiatives to provide inclusive services for disadvantaged women in their communities. This training will also equip female students to harness the power of technology to address online hate speech, cyberbullying, and harassment. Through the training, the participants will gain a brief idea about the various steps to start a new initiative through developing a culture of innovation and continuous improvement of the service. The training programme aims to be an integrated toolkit for new entrepreneurs so they can develop initiatives based on innovative ideas and services linked to peace, prosperity, cohesion, and resilience in society. Upon completion of this training, the participants will be able to:

• Understand the concept of social entrepreneurship, peace, cohesion and their inter-linkages
• Identify the social issues, and problems
• Design innovative start-ups/services/advocacy campaigns to build a peaceful society
• Understand the basic features of an entrepreneur and business planning canvas
• Identify potential risks and mitigation strategies related to the entrepreneurship
• Enhance idea generation, teamwork and problem-solving skills
• Manage funds, build networks, and develop partnerships for a sustainable initiative

Target Group: Female students studying at bachelor/honours level at any academic institution in Bangladesh who did not receive this training from CPJ, Brac University earlier. 

* Students from the indigenous communities, persons with disabilities, female-headed households, tea gardens, Urdu speaking, transgender, faith-based and any other disadvantaged community are highly encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Female students currently enrolled in bachelors/honours level
• Minimum 3-6 months experience of voluntary work or extra-curricular activities
• Potential leadership ability with innovative ideas
• Interested to work for a just, peaceful, and inclusive society
• Has a compatible device (e.g. smartphone, laptop, desktop) with an internet connection
