Sumaiya Razzak is currently working with the Centre for Peace and Justice, Brac University (CPJ) as an Executive and Administrative Associate and is one of the team members of the Executive Director’s office. Her responsibilities at CPJ include organising various meetings for the senior management team and following up on the action points discussed in these meetings, conducting desk research for the senior management team, drafting documents, coordinating with different teams within CPJ, and collaborating with teams within BRAC University and BRAC. She assists the Executive Director in keeping his correspondence in order and performs any other duties related to CPJ as assigned by the Executive Director.

She is also assisting the Deputy Executive Director in designing and developing CPJ’s certificate courses and creating course materials and the curriculum structure for the upcoming CPJ BRACU Master’s Programme. Additionally, she conducts desk research on CPJ’s collaborative research initiatives with various international organisations and prepares reports, presentations, and briefings. She assists with project proposals, documentation, and coordination.

Sumaiya is responsible for organising events, internal and external meetings, research seminars, and field visits, ensuring smooth logistics, security, and guest management. She manages international and domestic travel bookings. She is also working in the Finance and Administration department, managing financial transactions, record-keeping, and internal audits. Sumaiya also leads the Riedwan Aritro internship program, prepares comprehensive training materials, and is working on CPJ’s policy development.

Prior to joining CPJ, Sumaiya worked for various law firms and legal organisations as a freelance legal data entry specialist and transcriptionist. She also worked as social media manager, content creator and copywriter. Additionally, she published several articles and reports on current events and topics of interest in national newspapers.

Sumaiya completed her SSC from YWCA Higher Secondary Girls’ School and HSC from Holy Cross College with distinction. She earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the School of Law, BRAC University in 2022 and completed her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (UMSAILS) in partnership with the Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) in 2023 with a full scholarship sponsored by the South Asia Foundation (SAF).
