Centre for Peace and Justice, BRAC University and World Faiths Development Dialogue jointly organised a virtual webinar on Islam, Gender and Leadership offered by KUPI -The Female Ulama Congress of Indonesia on Monday, 16 August, 2021.

The key objective of the webinar were Women in Bangladesh have been engaged at the forefront of promoting peace and social cohesion in their communities and responding to emergencies and disasters. Women and women-led organizations continue to be at the frontline and play essential roles in every sector. This inter-faith webinar on gender perspective aims to support on that so that the young women have access to more open and enabling interpretations of religion.

Nani Zulminarni. Founder and Chair of PEKKA Board, Dr. Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir (Faqih), founder of the Fahmina Foundation, an Indonesian NGO working on gender, democracy, and pluralism from Islamic perspective and Dr. Nur Rofiah, Lecturer of The Methodology of Quranic Interpretation at Postgraduate Programmes of The Institute for Quranic Science in Jakarta Indonesia discussed as a guest speaker in this webinar.

The webinar started with an introduction by Zia Uddin, Technical Advisor of CPJ and Dr. Samia Huq, Research Fellow at CPJ moderated the discussion.
