Centre for Peace and Justice (CPJ), BRAC University organised a five-day residential training on research methodology for students from Satkhira and Jashore Districts at the BRAC Learning Centre in Jashore from 11 to 15 February 2024.
The program aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills to conduct research effectively. Day 1 focused on team
building, familiarizing participants with the program’s goals, and providing an overview of research concepts, the research cycle, and choosing a research topic. On day 2, the participants learned how to formulate research questions, select appropriate data collection methods, conduct interviews, and develop strong communication and listening skills. Day 3 covered group discussions, sharing learnings with the broader group, community-based participatory research (CBPR), focus group discussions (FGDs), and research ethics. On day 4, the participants had a full day dedicated to field testing their knowledge by conducting key informant interviews (KIIs) and making presentations. They also prepared and presented their learnings from the field experience. The final day focused on presenting research findings, SMART goal setting for research projects, and exploring innovative research approaches used by CPJ. The 5-day training workshop ended with a small certificate-giving ceremony.
