The 4th South Asian Diaspora Convention (SADC) was held in 2019 in Singapore between 15 to 17 November. The theme for the event was ‘Vibrant South Asia – Innovative Diaspora’. The event brought together more than 800 distinguished guests from academics and policymakers to business and civil society leaders.
The 3-day event focused on discussions and debate on critical topics, such as, entrepreneurship, skills development and innovation that it critical to South Asia’s future and its role in remaining competitive in the 21st century. Some of the many notable issues of the discussion were:
- What are the geo-economic and geo-political challenges affecting South Asia?
- What are the key engines of growth in South Asia?
- How will new technologies, innovation, skills development and entrepreneurship create an inclusive economy that help drive the region’s growth agenda forward?
Manzoor Hasan OBE, Executive Director of Centre for Peace and Justice, Brac University attended the SADC event. Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, KCMG, Emeritus Chairman of BRAC, received a Special Award for Outstanding Member of the South Asian Diaspora (OMSAD).
