The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) is a unique region in Bangladesh, home to distinct terrain and diverse ethnic groups. An insurgency took place from 1976 to 1997, forming an armed struggle between the indigenous population1 and the state’s security forces. The conflict ended in 1997, with the agreement known as the Chittagong Hill Tracts Accord. However, this agreement has not been implemented properly, which has caused ongoing instability in the region. The aim of this Policy Analysis Exercise (PAE) is to evaluate the status of conflict resolution and peacebuilding in the CHT with a focus on the key ethno-national identity factors hindering the full implementation of the CHT Accord
